Concert Review: SAYGRACE Has a Voice That Makes Me Want To Say Grace

I could pray over SAYGRACE’s voice and, actually, be heard by God. Miracles happen when you hear this young woman live. While she is 22, both she and I believe she is a 40 year old soul. You may laugh, but it is an old soul for love and a rich vocality for the gods that made Adele so famous. Now, they may not sound alike, but they both tap into young women’s feelings of oldness and tiredness when it comes to love.

It is said that men mature later than women. It is also said that men suck. (lol!) Yet, if women mature faster, even without a man, just imagine how much we mature or feel “aged” by a relationship with one. It is in this notion that SAYGRACE’s The Defining Moments of SayGrace: Girlhood, Fuckboys & Situationships shined when played to her private audience. Her lyrics leaped from the stage as if to hug every young woman that gave her heart to an immature guy and, seemingly, aged a thousand years through their break-up. Hence, her voice not only feels more powerful, as you see her capacity to riff and crescendo a note, but it also feels more potent because its relatable.

SAYGRACE is witty. She has a commanding presence that makes you look at her as she enters a room, and has enough personal charm to emote that heartbreaks eventually become your tales of resilience or old laughs. As she spoke of her past loves, even she giggled at the crazy choices she or her exes made while in “romance.” Her ability to lighten up the crowd in-between songs that sunk them into the quietness and pensiveness of a young woman trying to figure out if her relationships really do define her made SAYGRACE  not only must listen but also a must-see.
