Concert Review: At Mercury Lounge, RINI Is Excited, And You Should Be, Too!

I got the chance to see Rini at both Mercury Lounge and a private listening party for his new EP Ultraviolet, and either way the Filipino pride was brimming. Yet, the difference was noted in his demeanor between a room of executives, press, and some really good cocktails versus a group of fans and beer. In one room you have to put on a face, and, in the latter, you have to show them your real one.

There is something really exciting about being an artist to watch, especially as your crowd grows. You get fans that know your words, and the music that only meant something to you is, suddenly, saving people from themselves. Rini´s music is like moody self- analytics on his love/ego ratio, which is so R&B. This genre will live forever because it speaks to romance and self-sabotage like they are in a constant dalliance, which they are and Rini croons to it.

The EP is the beginning of a new life for him, which includes more fans and private rooms. Yet, Mercury Lounge felt like the sendoff to bigger venues and more albums. In essence, it was a night that, whether he knew it or not, was more special because of what it meant to his future. Sure, Rini was grateful, and nodded and winked to the crowd: even in his private listening session he took pics and shook hands. Yet, as I watched him, I could not help but wonder of the many times I was at a studio, pouring my heart out into a song, and feeling like every new thing I wrote was the best thing I ever made. Rini was having that moment: feeling the best in what he gave, what he received, and, in a way, what he could be.

There is a belief that anxiety is a futuristic sentiment, but so is excitement. It feels really good to know tomorrow will be great, and Rini knows it. His music is too delectable to not become edible to every ear listening, and his voice is spot on live, which is so lucky. Similar to Summer Walker, he has a real knack for sounding live like his recorded sessions, which gives fans a worthy ticket. After all, I go to see an artist because I liked what I heard, and Rini does not fail. For More Information On RINI Click Here.
