Concert Review: The Rose Bar Sessions Are A Unique Music Experience
The Rose Bar Sessions are amazing, in part, because they make life feel like an exclusive ticket to music and intimacy. Dimly lit with an array of spirits from all around the world, you get a great cocktail, sit by its stunningly ornate fireplace, and get to listen to artists. The thing about a venue is that each one reveals a new layer to your connection with a song. Hence, you can go feel crazily euphoric and communal at MSG or relaxed and happily pensive at Rose Bar.
Located at the Gramercy Park Hotel, the room was packed, which is why it is so strange that it still felt small and connective. Yet, again, it could be the beauty of the room itself: from tall ceilings to the incredibly eccentric, celebrity art or the laughing faces of its attendees. People felt safe and open within the spaces intimacy, which made the set by Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins feel like an appreciation event. People, automatically, sang along to his works and felt like they could invest in every string from guitar melodies or verses from his heart-written songs. In essence, his music came to life as more than an observer of it but also a purveyor.

The energy of a crowd moves the energy of an artist and vice versa. Thus, there IS NO WAY that an artist does NOT end up in conversation with a Rose Bar audience. The dynamic is like two people traveling solo on an airplane, you feel bound to say, “Hi” or give a friendly chat. After all, you are sharing time and miles with someone, which is what Rose Bar does for its invited audience and artist: it makes them feel like for a few hours they are going to travel to a music world and discuss life stories. As someone whom is OBSESSED with music documentaries and BTS footage, the Rose Bar Sessions make you feel like you are learning about the art of an artist.
