Concert Review: SG Lewis Is A Weekend Must See At Elsewhere
As an artist, you know that you are hitting the people in the feels when they are, literally, “Mmmmming.” At Elsewhere, SG Lewis was equal to sonic ice cream, and the audience was reveling in every single scoop/ song he offered. Never have I seen an artist so perfectly fir with the term: “Friday Feeling!”
As people gathered in their spruced, after-work garbs, relief and the desire to feel it painted the ambiance. You can always tell an audience is ready to have a good time by the mere energy of the room. As people discussed their boss over 15 dollar beer cans they called “splurges,” SG Lewis was entering a crowd eager to love him. Yet, I fully understand why after experiencing his show. He is the equivalent of what the weekend means: happy, dancing, freedom, and fantasy.
SG Lewis – Hurting ft. AlunaGeorge
Walking out with a smile that could compete with Noah Centineo, the audience was, immediately, charmed. Who is this smiling face so eager to brighten us with rhythms?SG Lewis played music that felt like modern disco; it swiftly shimmied through the atmosphere with an accessible glamorousness. Yet, every snare, synth, and baseline felt like it belonged in 2018, especially because SG Lewis had a brilliant strategy that he revealed immediately: always bring live singers. He said that bringing on other vocalists to your “DJ Set,” vibrates to life both your music and your mission. For SG Lewis, his mission is simple: have a good time, and forget that you have to work for it. Hence, the crowd adored him, and cheered their beers to songs “All Night,” “Better,” “Yours,” and “No Less.”
SG Lewis – Dusk
Throughout tracks, Alrie Bah and Tom Dunne would whirl, wail, and whisk notes as if they were sous chefs to SG Lewis’ 5 star restaurant of TOP MUSIC DISHES! It is said that music feeds the soul, and SG Lewis displays why; you feel full by the moments he is giving your spirit. While he brings out singers to add layers to his music, he does not miss a note as a singer, as well. Instead, the interchanging vocals and melodies scope his setlist prove his humility to happiness. He radiates an energy that says, “I am here to entertain, and bring you your future entertainers.” His ability to breezily flow from lead singer to backdrop composer for others makes you as comfortable in his presence as he is with his talent. #confidence For More Information On SG Lewis Click Here.
