Concert Review: SHAED Show Time Makes You Grow
Okay, this review might be a little personal. SHAED has been featured several times on Diandra Reviews It All. I remember when they were openers to openers. Thus, their sold out, headlining Baby’s All Right show held a sentimental truth I often forget: time makes the heart grow fonder.
Yes, I know the saying is “distance” makes the heart grow fonder, but time is the distance of years it takes to mold someone to be enriched by love.Time teaches you how to embody your passion rather than let is ebb and flow in your dreams and become a gnawing anxiety. Time can settle you to be serene in your power, and lead singer Chelsea Lee was calmly dominant on that stage. With SHAED’s signature triangle behind her, she looked as if she was warping from the future to tell us through tracks like, “Trampoline,” “Lonesome,” and “Too Much” that love is as enamoring and confusing in 2099 as it is in 2019.
SHAED – Trampoline (Official Video)Chelsea Lee’s presence on stage has grown tenfold; with her accepting that she is the sonic guide of her audience. In quips and lyrics, the crowd saw her as a Pop Kween zooming through SHAED’s bigger sound as if she was Jean Grey becoming the Dark Phoenix. She is cool and crisp in her vocality; using her hand to fan her notes into the air and walking the stage as if she needs to step into her feelings Shaed are unabashedly electro in their pop, which laces stardust over their romantic verses on wanting who you love or needing someone to want. That might sound strange, but from “Perfume” to “Melt” you saw the inner beauty and crazy of desiring another, which we all will do, at least once.
SHAED – Melt (Official video)You’ll never escape loving another person, but what most people question is whether they will be loved. At Baby’s, SHAED WAS LOVED, and it felt exciting to see what it is to gain a greater following. One day, you are introducing yourself to people, and, the next, they are introducing themselves to you. I’m going to be honest; if SHAED end up Paramore level and headlining MSG, I might become a “proud mama” and make a glitter poster with hearts over their name. (lol!) Yet, the reason I get giddy is because there is so much talent I have seen, but it is always wonderful to see that talent get seen by many more. For More Information On SHAED Click Here.
