Concert Review: Tessa Violet Is Dropping Roses At Baby’s
With her name spelled out over flowers and lights, it was hard not to throw some respect on it. More than ever, Tessa Violet is proclaiming her power. The internet icon turned songstress has a fan-base that is FIERCELY protective of her and her music, and protectiveness is a sign of rising prosperity.
From the Arianators to The Swifties, nowadays, it seems the power of being an artist is, literally, having an army that will FIGHT FOR YOU! I, literally, stepped in front of a young, twenty-something woman with pig-tails and glasses, and she said, “It’s time for you to move!” with a savage voice that coded what she really meant, “Move or I move you!” I was shook; here were a bunch of younglings pining and dining on Violet’s music for the happily lovelorn with admiration and protection. They were kind and attracted her kindness with a soulful grip. Yet, the moment was an added cherry to my “epiphany-sundae” on how powerful Violet’s music is received by fans. She represents the coolest outcast; the one that is not looking to “fit in” or fight the world for shutting her out. Instead, she is just trying to enjoy the people and things she has, which is such an empowering message.
Tessa Violet – I Like (the idea of) You – (Official Music Video)
Tessa Violet is one of the sweetest artists you will meet. In between songs, she cracked silly, six-graders that you would, secretly, crack with your best friends. Yet, that is my point. From “Bad Ideas” to “Not Over You,” she treats her tracks like inside-editions to her world, which makes her fans her “insiders.” They feel like they know everything about her because, in a way, they know her out. She is silly, kind, eager to connect, and rocks around the stage as if her guitar is fused with lightning. She is the “happiest version” of them, which is why to see her is to see who they want to be. Moreover, she is simple. Lyrically, she embraces sentiments like they are as easy to chew as a pack of Swedish Fish; even the hardest bite won’t send you to the dentist. The result is a show that is. as delightful as candy.
