Concert Review: The Magic Numbers Are Teddy Bears At Mercury Lounge
As lead singer, Romeo Stodart, discussed how he believes his young son might be the next Leonard Cohen, I smiled. There is a kind innocence to The Magic Numbers presence and sound that soothes how wayward life can make you feel. For them, a leaf may fall and not make a sound, but it still never loses its place on this earth.
Do you need to make noise to have a voice? From “I See You, See Me” to “Love Me Like You,” every song played to how most us feel so un-impactful upon this world, but then we find love, and, suddenly, our small lives feel meaningful enough. Most of us will not be rich and famous and our social media handles will probably stay in the lower 100 range, BUT, to the few that know us, we will be a hit. This idea pervades through The Magic Numbers music with melodies that feel like a hand saying, “It’s okay! You did well!”
The Magic Numbers – Ride Against The Wind (Official Video)
You always hear people say that quality supersedes quantity, but this is 2018…. and having a lot makes you get treated as if you mean much to this world. Hence, I like the sweetness of The Magic Numbers’ songs and demeanor. They felt like teddy bears, which I know sounds funny. Yet, who has not hugged a teddy bear, and, at least, once spoken and confided in one as if it were real. (Anyone?……Anyone?) As I contemplate my life choices, I continue my point. When you have a personality that makes people want to confide in you, then you also have a key to success. It is for this reason that The Magic Numbers discussed changing their managers and pushing their careers and life choices forward. They knew they had the message, and also knew they would have the listeners.
The Magic Numbers – Love Me Like You
Coming from a show in Japan, The Magic Numbers felt more than just worldly; they felt universal. As if everyone they have sung to understands what it is to feel lost in path, but still feel so settled with one person. Luckily, Stodart has a voice that combines rustics and romance; making love feel folkish in origin. Moreover, his vocals and The Magic Numbers’ slightly psychedelic opuses help you see that stability lies in who you love: not where you live. For More Information On The Magic Numbers Click Here.
