Concert Review: Welshly Arms Are Ready For Arenas At MHOW
In this world, we judge artists that aim for arenas as much as we judge artists that are perfectly happy in their local lounge circuit. Yet, more often than not, we judge others humility out of a lack of our own. Welshly Arms easily gave one of their best shows at MHOW because they were open to how much they have progressed and how far they will go.
When I first saw Welshly Arms, we were packed into Rockwood, and, even there, the spiritualism of their sound was undeniable. Sam Getz has a “Come To Jesus” voice. He knows how to thrash and throw his voice like a man ripping his sins away from him, and running to the river to cleanse them away. At that river, he finds Jon and Bri Brynat as the angels giving harmonies and vocal riffs that clash and coddle his capacity to sound so beautifully broken. If his vocal style is confessional and raw, theirs is clear and celestial, which made them a perfect match in “Love In A Minor Key,” “Never Meant To Be,” and “Down To The River.”
Welshly Arms – Indestructible
In terms of energy, Welshly Arms embrace the stage like an arena, and their music could, certainly, fill out a stadium. They are giving you Led Zeppelin meets Oprah; capturing the guttural “Unspoken” pain of living and the desire to be elevated and “Wild.” Hence, their presence is a cross between a party and a prayer. Yet, their baselines and keys quake the ground so much, you cannot help but feel like even Heaven had joined their meditations and movements. Yet, you can tell from their dynamic and interactions with the crowd, laughing at their love songs and promising to hang out afterwards, that Welshly Arms were reveling their growing notice.
Welshly Arms – Sanctuary
In singing to the man/ woman looking up so as to change from how much he/she looks down on herself, Welshly Arms also reveal something about themselves: their ambitions. How we complete our desires are the keys to our unhappiness and our joy, and you knew Welshly Arms are “living” on their ride upwards. They are 100% rising, and can/achieve arena levels of sound and following. For More Information On Welshly Arms Click Here.
