Concert Review: Years And Years Could Last Forever At Terminal 5
I CAN’T EVEN EMOTIONALLY DEAL WITH YEARS AND YEARS! I just want to go on a Kanye Level Rant of Happiness when it comes to their interstellar performance. As rainbow flags and neon lighters were splish-splashed across the crowd, Olly Alexander was an LGBT icon/ Egyptian God at Terminal 5.
With neon-lit signs that looked like the hieroglyphics of “Fabulish,” the new language only spoken by the fabulous, I was shook. My heart rate arose at how much pop glory Olly was summoning with synths and swag. He was giving “bawdy:” wearing a white, sheer fishnet shirt that could turn 8 minutes abs into 18. Moreover, he and the audience were breaking into dance moves that reminded me choreography is WELCOMED at concerts. This was not a sway, tap your toe, or give a head nod kind of crowd. Bodies were breaking down from rhythms as if every synth was a laser and boredom was their targeted enemy.
Years & Years – All For You
Playing off Palo Santo, from “Sanctify” to “All For You,” each track was deliciously sultry. Olly Alexander was the epitome of sexy; moving his body and soul according to the school of Confidence 101! His voice was zested with vivacity; as if you can zip-line vocals through a musical forest and into listening ears. Thus, the crowd was enamored because, again, from his set to his style, it was as if we were watching an Egyptian God perform to sensuality, lust, love, and the fearlessness you need to have to own them. Watching him perform, oddly, made me rethink about his intentions for his music.

When discussing Palo Santo, Olly Alexander spoke about how it was a vulnerable album, and how it was about him making clear what he wants and needs from relationships. Yet, with how much exuberance and esteem he carried himself, I kept on thinking that vulnerability is sexy. From “Take Shelter” to” If You’re Over Me” or “King”, it is hard to tell someone else, or even yourself, what you need and “Desire” from this world/ your lover. Still, Years and Years performance taught me that, if you want to be happy, you have to do it, and, in the process, you will learn how to carry yourself like a god/goddess.
