Concert Review: Liza Colby Is A Complete Badass And I Will Not Hear Otherwise
Liza Colby might be the Tina Turner of Rock N’ Roll. The Liza Colby Sound took the Bowery Electric stage, of which this woman was the Gypsy Queen in The Who’s Tommy, and flash- danced her way through a set that was purely made by her essence. There are certain artists of which their music makes them, and there are other artists who make their music. In essence, there is a difference between a singer and an entertainer, of which one half of an artist attracts a fan moreso. Although a star is both, one always dominates the other, and Liza Colby is an ENTERTAINER!
There are certain artists like Adele that you love their music, and you go to revel in the beauty of their songs at a concert, and then there are Beyonce’s of who you go to witness how their being supersedes their own songs through performance excellence. Colby gave me Beyonce/ I AM A QUEEN vibes in Bowery Electric as she threw herself across the floor like a human mop absorbing up music water. She looked nearly possessed by her songs, and the wide-eyes of the crowd only enamored her more. For Colby, a cheer is like red bull and an applause is like vodka; the combination has her LIT! Moreover, when I tell you the crowd WAS PACKED, I am not kidding. I have been to Bowery Electric several times, and I can tell you I have never seen it so congested with people. It was as if we were all there to see the human eclipse that is Liza Colby, whom is quickly becoming a staple in the NYC music scene because of her dynamic style. She seems mad with music, and rips through songs like a child unwrapping her Christmas gifts. When you add that energy to tracks like “Try Me”, “My World” and “Four Day Creep”, you want to, literally, kick down a door like an action superstar. Liza Colby should be the vocalist for every James Bond soundtrack. PUTTING IT OUT THERE, UNIVERSE!

Now, that I have elaborated that Liza Colby can entertain, I want to make clear that she can SANG! She is a soul rocker; giving you that hearty, “Etta James” voice and blending it with Mick Jagger flares and playfulness. It is as if she is the Rolling Stones’ remix of At Last; both rich in heart but potent with lyrical blades. Overall, she is a MUST-SEE. So Click Here to know when she is hitting a music hall near you!
