Concert Review: Blu DeTiger Is My Rock Goddess At Webster
Blu DeTiger is becoming massive for a reason. Seeing her in Gov Ball was like watching the birth of a rock goddess. A woman that was not simply putting her feeling unto a chord, but also her body and with every swing of her hair. Rock, for women nowadays, can be introspective, but DeTiger is explosively emotional, as if to say the inward market is taken… so lets get a little outward.
DeTiger was excited for her show, and I was too. There is a huge difference between a festival show and a personal, headlining one; the former feeling like a pebble in a river while the latter feeling like water, itself. When things are all about you, it IS powerful, and the irony is DeTiger makes her music about feeling like neither is possible without a fight…. and I am not talking self sabotage. In this world, we can get enemies from simply staring at ourselves in the mirror, and DeTiger creates the music for people owning that people will ALWAYS HATE YOU, but you have to love you in response. PERIOD!
I know that sounds simple and corny, ¨love yourself!¨ It seems like the logo for every TikTok psychologist, but self-love is the only way to respond to others´ hate, especially when we KNOW it is so easy to hate ourselves. We do not need to join the choir, but Blu DeTiger is so confident she becomes who the choir prays to. She’s a goddess on stage; emanating the presence of a legend, and proving you are a born a star, just become one to the world when they cannot deny looking at you. Thus, Blu DeTiger has this rare, ¨Harry Styles¨ quality, where you become obsessed with not only her music but HER!
One of the best rock shows you can see, Blu DeTiger is bound to be known because she is dedicated to not being ignored, and, frankly, that is so cool. We all can be so obsessed with our images we forget to be seen and that the goal is visibility: not invisibility. Blu DeTiger creates the music and space for you to remember that.
