Festival Review 2: SPLENDOUR XR IS THE FUTURE OF FESTIVALS

Live music is coming back, and one day it will feel more normal, even if it is not, necessarily, its “old normal.” Sure, if you look at Rolling Loud crowds, people acted like they have not been afraid of a person coughing or sneezing in the past year. Yet…..that is Florida. For many, the fear is real, but Splendour XR was so intriguing because even if we get back to those good ol’ days of coughing and dancing together under strobe lights and sticky floors, virtual can be a really cool music outlet that DOES NOT have to disappear.

As I watched acts that I have seen live, perform virtually, I had to admit…. virtual did them favors. They came off iconic. Do not get me wrong! A great live performer is a GEM,  but most of us go to a concert because we really loved a song and when the crowds sing with the singer as if their lyrics manifested their current existence, frankly, an atheist believes in God. Thus, as my German avatar, named Sweda scoped the magical world of SPLENDOUR XR, I got a taste of something even real festivals cannot do, but yet…. we all act like they do: they make us someone else.

As a festival-goer, I personally love most of the crowds, especially the camp away ones because those get REALLY HIPPIE! Yet, Splendour XR was a VR experience, which made me feel like I was NEO in The Matrix. Here I was in a world where I wasn’t me, and I did not have to play fantasy as much as embrace the one happening before me. Like I said, we treat those camp aways like modern Woodstocks, but we are fulfilling a desired act rather than actually plunking into one. In this VR world, it was hard not to feel every multi-colored backdrop wasn’t some kind of Narnia being born before you. Yet, I was lucky to borrow a friend’s VR set. Thus, I had to see how the fest landed in a simple tablet or computer screen, which is where most of us watch our virtual shows.

Okay, if you have the VR it is a fantasy, but if you had a regular screen, it felt like an experience. You watched as you would one of the best movies of Netflix because the quality and the desire to make the person entertained was clear. The production was exemplar, and there was feeling that being at home does not make any less your deserve for value. Ultimately, I can genuinely say Splendour XR is on to something when it comes to future of music festivals. Click Here For Splendour XR Relive Tickets.
