Diandra´s Top 5 Artists For Anti-Hero Energy

One of the best songs of 2022-2023 is hands down Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero. It is beautiful, and brutal in its hooky humor on what it means to live in quiet, self-destruction while building your magnificence. Not everybody who hates themselves stops themselves, which is, in a way, the beauty of an Anti-Hero. They do not want to save anyone or even themselves but they live on this idea that destruction is not ¨it¨ either.

These next 5 acts totally get that. They are giving Anti-Hero energy, and observing their own toxicity while singing to becoming their own constant.

1) Alix Page

With her newest single, ¨Automatic,¨ Alix observes what it is to love someone that hurts you and you vice versa. It is inevitable to hurt someone you love or be hurt by them, but how to know the difference between humanity and toxicity is partly why Anti-heroes exist.

2) LØREN

Self-defense is not murder. I always remember that J.Lo quote from enough, and that reeled in my head listening LØREN. She makes music for people like me that understand I do not need to be perfect to feel safe or respected by you. I just need to be good and human enough, and if not ¨Put Up A Fist.¨ So Anti- Hero!

3) Stephen Dawes

Part of Anti-Hero energy is the immersive, submerging vibe of its love. Its overwhelming, bombarding and embedded in a belief that love heals all wounds, even those old, trauma ones you got from your high school bully. Yet, in music, that type of energy WORKS! We want the love that lifts us up where were belong and Stephen Dawes has IT!

4) ¿Téo?

¿Téo? is such a fave. I love his music for its ability to be so smooth and rhythmic all at once. As if dancing really is the highest form of seduction: passionate, confident, and oddly serene for all that it can imply. Sounds like relationships, and like Dawes above, part of ¿Téo? rebellious, anti-hero vibe is ability to be different in everything he sings and sounds about love and the fun it is to both fall in and out of it.

5) Debby Friday

When words like explosive and pounding are used to describe your sound, you got Anti-Hero energy for sure. Love is HOT! It is like the Big Bang went off in your heart, and even your pants. That type of feeling can drown you in joy and confusion, and Debby Friday makes songs that celebrate and cut into this truth. Love just might be the best, most dangerous thing to happen to you.
