Album Review: Myrkur Inspires Fantasy In Juniper
Listening to Myrkur’s Juniper, I felt like my life had become a woodland folk tale. Birds and butterflies flew around me, and attached to their wings were violin strings being played by the wind. Meanwhile, horses ran through greened plains, and trees grew taller to reach the sunny voice of Myrkur. Yes, that is the level of vision Myrkur inspires in her new EP.
Honestly, Myrkur could easily soundtrack a Lord of The Rings’ cosplay, and I say that with GREAT RESPECT AND HONOR! Such fantasy novels enrapture audiences and followings because they bring humanity to a higher, more imaginative space while acknowledging our darkness. Suddenly, we can deal with the heartbreak we have been given and can commit, and balances it with the love, of which we can do the same. While only two tracks, “Juniper” and “Bonden & Kragen,” Myrkur revamps folk for its fantasy, and provides lush choruses and arrangements the coat over your mind as images are literally glazing.
Myrkur’s Juniper is the definition of visual, and, in this capacity, her music is EPIC. Her voice flutters throughout her songs like a mystical being observing reality. Thus, she never loses a sense go magic, while being, simultaneously, grounded, i.e. the heart of fantasy. From Game of Thrones to Vikings, we watch to dream, and Myrkur uses Juniper to make us listen and dream. For More Information on Myrkur And To Buy Juniper on December 7 Click Here.
