Album Review: Rhye Shows You The “Blood” of Seduction
Rhye has thrived on being alternative R&B. This genre, in general, is smooth and scintillates in passion, to which Rhye slows and simmers such passion into a highly attractive album, Blood. Yes, I know it sounds like I am hitting on a record, but in a world where music can be so overt in displaying sexual desire, Rhye goes for the beauty of seduction. Sometimes, the key to getting what you want is not aggression as much as intelligent determination.
How do we attract each other without crossing lines seems to be a hot, but important topic. To Rhye, you earn love, pleasure, and the ultimate achievement of another’s companionship. You earn it through slow-drawn rhythms that feel like satin curtains being drawn in, baselines that light like candles brightening a room, and love-lorn lyrics that whisper like sweet-nothings in your ear. For Rhye, mental and spiritual stimulation is the art of seduction because a heart is the only thing worth loving.
Rhye – Please
As he sings in a high, ascending register, you feel like perfectly crafted, rose petals are falling upon your ears in tracks like, “Taste”, “Feel Your Weight”, “Softly”, and “Phoenix”. Rhye’s voice is so gentile you become intimately led into his visions of love. The body is only a vessel, and every down-tempo sheds it away until all you have is soul. The result is an album that feels surprisingly longer and more impactful for being so quiet and delicate. Again, love can often be presented as a fist, punching forward with its yearning for connection, but Rhye is simply holding out his hand hoping you will hold it back.
Rhye – Taste
I have to say Rhye’s Blood is perfection. Now a solo act, headed by Milosh, the Canadian artist has invested more into Rhye’s crisp, crystallized instrumentals to create a soundscape that is incredibly sexy. From “Count To Five” to “Song For You” or “Sinful”, Rhye approaches beats like steps on a beach; imprinting his creative footing into every track until he reaches your ocean of thoughts. Trust me, this album will make you wander through an imagination of love, lust, and the absolute beauty it is to feel such things for someone who feels it for you, as well. Turns out the best way to get love is to respectfully and artfully earn it. For More Information On Rhye And To Buy Blood On February 2 Click Here.
