Album Review: Troye Sivan Sings To Love And Lust In Bloom

Troye Sivan has blossomed as an artist, and Bloom is a perfect title/ homage to a young man that sees self-exploration as integral to his sound. Bloom scintillates as an album; with tracks feeling like an artist further undressing his desires. Think of it! If your music is seen as a body of work, then Bloom is Sivan’s step into higher fashion.

From “Dance This” to “My My My!,” Sivan poses rhythms like pages in Vogue. Every synth is a print in motion, and ups Bloom as Sivan’s launch into fantasy pop. This genre, by definition, glorifies escapism and celebrates humanity as an avant-garde masterwork. It redefines sexy as sensual, which is something that Sivan does, lyrically, throughout tracks such as  “Plum,” “The Good Side,” and “What A Good Way To Die.” It is a fascinatingly, romantic twist that is not far-fetched for the times.

From Years & Years to Donna Missal, people are open to getting “weird” in their soundscapes and styles. Yet, they are more open to observing sex and lust as the arousing symptoms of love. They are fearlessly licentious, but show owning your body, your soul, your mind, and that of your lover’s is NOT tasteless or undignified. On the contrary, it is beginning of your blossoming or, in this case, Bloom. Such a mindset, matures Troye Sivan, who by all means, started his career very young.
Troye Sivan – Bloom

Child actor, Youtube Star, and, now, Pop hit-maker, Sivan has played many roles, which is why Bloom is a pawed and paced chameleon of a record. Vocally, he keeps his innocence. Drawling and dripping verses with an innate, naive sound to his vocality. The result is a voice that sounds chaste as it observes “wilder pastures.” Yet, there is nothing like your youth to push and ponder how you bloom. For More Information on Troye Sivan Click Here.
