Artist Close-Up: Chad King Give Hope In New Song

You might know Chad King as the other half of the duo- A Great Big World.  The duo created a solo track for a very personal issue: King’s multiple sclerosis. ‘Brave’ can often feel like a loose, media term, but I must use it here because when your body turns on you, it takes courage to not turn on yourself.

King’s valiance is commendable because he turned his pain into art. “Won’t Stop Running” is the title of this determined, spiritual track, that proudly proclaims perseverance is key. As his lyrics affirm, King is way too young for such a diagnosis, but like his other lyrics “it’s not over” and “he won’t stop dreaming.” That kind of resilience elevates the simple synth beats into a battle cry: FACE FORWARD! Its empowering lyrics will move any down-some listener to clutch to their inner strength and pick themselves up again.

Every once in awhile a human story becomes a superhuman song. It transitions from another radio track to a sublime message of hope for listeners in need. Multiple Sclerosis is not an easy challenge to face, but around 2.5 million people on this earth are confronting this suffering. I hope each of them finds this song. It is a reminder that light can enter darkness, but darkness cannot enter light. Stay light!
