Artist Close-Up: Ben Mckelvey

Ben McKelvey has been described as the British Bruce Springsteen and with good reason. He has the voice and rock sensibility that makes you want to hit the road and look for “home.” He is a rising star in the UK, which has fallen in love with him for his widely acclaimed debut album Life and Love in England. His rise in Great Britain makes his rise in the U.S. inevitable.

Only Here Once

McKelvey has the gritty sound of longing that made Springsteen a house-hold name. His melodies and lyrics tap into the human soul’s desire to both see the world and learn how it’s apart of it. Song like, “Morning I’m Gone” and “Only Here Once,” amplify the humble, nomad feel he gives with the confident music he brings. His sound is like a breath of fresh air for those that wish a Millennial version of The Clash or Paul Weller’s The Jam could appear on their radio. McKelvey, a multi-instrumentalist, composes songs that range from in your face to a soft caress. Either way,  his sound, though influences by past greats, is unique and fresh upon the radio.

Somewhere Else

Here is His Official Website. There you can find all you need to know about this rising star. I also recommend that when you hear his music you really listen to his words. They are what has helped him debut No 6 on the  iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, and what many critics are noting as filled with a wisdom and heart beyond the years of this young man.
