Concert Review: Bishop Briggs Bishop Briggs Empowers Brooklyn Steel

I remember the first time I saw Bishop Briggs opening up at Irving Plaza. It is obvious that time takes you places, and seeing a sold-out sign in her Brooklyn Steel show moved me. While in her first show, she discussed how her songs were about her seeking self-empowerment, now headlining, she is all about empowering others.

From fighting for human rights to knowing when it is time to end a relationship, Bishop Briggs was on her “Oprah” status at Brooklyn Steel. Yet, the crowd was living for it because of the spirituality of her music. “River”, “The Fire”, and “Tempt My Trouble” go for everyone’s inner sinner eager to reach their inner saint. Now, I am not talking in a “biblical” sense as much as the gnawing feeling everyone gets that they are better than who they are right now. How we get to that “future”, kinder version of us is the main goal of Bishop’s sound.
Bishop Briggs – The Way I Do (Official)

From “Wild Horses” to “Hi Lo”, Bishop Briggs’ voice was perfect; rasping the redeeming and raw feelings of wanting to open your heart after it has been shut out. Admittedly, there is something noble and beautiful about seeing someone pick up the shattered pieces of their heart, put them back together, and offer them to another. Bishop understands that, which is why her vocal prowess rustles through lyrics like a panther running through a jungle. The result is an exhilarating concert experience that shows, from opener to headliner, the only thing that changes in your life is your confidence to live it.
Bishop Briggs – River

Bishop still ran around the stage as if to perform a song was a Zumba workout. She still had her two, signature hair buns, and told a personal story, here and there, about her songs’ inspirations. She was still the same “opener” I saw a few years back, but the difference is she knew that “this” was her moment. The crowd was there for her, and she had no doubt that her music would be there for them, as well. For More Information on Bishop Briggs Click Here.
