Concert Review: Craig Stickland Has A Rich Voice At Bowery
Surrounded by ladies, the minute Craig Stickland sang, about 90% of the women in the room said….. “Yes!” They were in awe of how rich his vocals are; enough to make you believe his voice box works part-time as an ATM machine. He, literally, has “that voice,” of which, upon first listen, makes you want to google and Shazam every song he ever made. This was a blessing at Bowery.
Opening for Tom Walker, Craig was a perfect match. From “Break Every Rule” to “Burn It Down,” he sings to love like he is a one man Jason And The Argonauts. He is willing to go on Ancient Greece levels of adventure to get back to his lover. In a world of love songs, Stickland sings to love like a boxer; it is the championship prize he must fight to gain. Frankly, everyone adored his perspective and delivery. Like a boxer, Stickland’s voice striked like a fast fist.
Craig Stickland – Break Every Rule (The Van Sessions)
Stickland has no problem punching his vocals like they are bags of sanded emotions. He has to break them so that every sentimental grain falls on his verses. The result was a performance that was grounded, inviting, and excitingly dramatic. There is nothing more surreal and beautiful than that romantic image of two people leaping through obstacles to run into each other’s arms and kiss in the rain. Tracks like, “Stop At Nothing” and “Rolling River” evoked such sentiments and stories, and thus made Stickland one to watch. I would LOVE to see his live performance and hear him sing again. Such a voice and personality is key to showing artists are story-tellers, and Craig Stickland has many stories to tell. For more information on Craig Stickland Click Here.
