Concert Review: Disclosure Play To A Bunch of Romeos And Juliets In BK

Note: I adore Disclosure. I think of the many DJs out there, they bring a pop exuberance and light-heartedness that is irresistible. At Brooklyn Mirage, they made couples feel like they were living in the party scene of Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet. I am talking a bunch of star-crossed Leo Dicaprios and Claire Danes’ living life as if romance only lasts a weekend. (Also Note: Romeo & Juliet, technically, only knew each other for 4 days! Discuss!)

With the re-opening of Brooklyn Mirage, it is quickly resetting itself, again, as THE SPOT for clubbing in New York/ Brooklyn. The pyramid inspired decor; makes you feel like you have entered Cleopatra’s personal, dance palace, of which regal debauchery is encouraged. This dynamic brought out the naughty playfulness to Disclosure’s music; making life feel like it was place for royal intrigue and romantic melodramas. Thus, every beat drop landed like a brick of gold and nobody could deny their feet wanted to cash it in.

Disclosure – Moonlight (Extended Mix)

Disclosure’s music treats love as if it is the holy union between peanut-butter and jelly or lollipops and chocolate. This may sound basic or generic, but, in a way, that is what people want. If love was as easy and delightful as putting marshmallows on graham crackers, then everybody would be screaming “Give Me S’More Please!” (Pun Intended) Yet, instead, to Disclosure it is a sultry house-pop mix that had people auditioning to be in the Vogue competition of next seasons Pose; it was glamorous, youthful, fun, and a space that invited the BK’s creative, romantic outcasts.

Disclosure – Magnets ft. Lorde (Official Video)

Surrounded by screens, holding their name in BIG, BLAZING LETTERS, and flashing strobes as if a light bean could be caught by your hand, Disclosure treated their mix-tables with Captain Kirk tenacity. You could tell they were LOVING the mass of people, energy, and production backing them. It was hard to hear, see, or feel anything but the moment, and how cosmically good it to have it. To put it simply, Disclosure is awesome. For More Information on Disclosure Click Here.
