Concert Review: Fieh Is A Jazzy Queen At Mercury Lounge

It is a pretty heart-warming vision when you see a group of artists/ musicians so empowered by a moment. When you can feel like they feel they are #blessed or #amazing, but do so without arrogance and complete awe. Fieh thought they were the humble, jazz  kings and queens of the world, and, to their crowd, they were!

Lead singer, Sofie Tollefsbøl, feels like the daughter of Joss Stone and John Coltrane. She manages to make emotions feel like complex, whirling dervishes moving within us as we try to love ourselves more than we love others. Yet, again, that is not in arrogance. It is in awareness that to love yourself more means you will love others better. Hence, my fascination with Fieh, as artists, is that they have matched self-love with having a lover. Sofie makes desiring to build yourself strong equal to lusting and imagining the beauty of your crush.

Fieh – Brain

Love is a strange feeling because it teaches you that weakness is strength. Somehow, your spirits feels as if it is standing like never before while your knees buckle. Thus, with an absolute smile, Sofie swung her lioness hair, shook her hands, and belted through tracks like, “25.” “Flower,” and “Glu.” In every track, even new ones,  she body flexed her the playfulness of her voice. Though she said she had nerves, she was too bubbly, kind, and interpersonal with the crowd for anyone to believe her. She 100% proved that there does not have to be a line between an artist and their personality. On the contrary, they build each other.

Fieh – Flower

As Fieh pranced around the stage and through songs, excitement electrified the air. There is no doubt that Fieh can find a major fanbase because she feels like a personal friend: bantering with her crowd after delivering an awe-inspiring vocal performance. Sofie makes no distinction between art and heart, which is why her music helps listeners imagine romance while building confidence. It is a rare effect, but one worth a ticket to see again.
