Concert Review: Franz Ferdinand LIGTH MY WORLD At Warsaw NYC

After seeing the exhilarating Flint Eastwood, I made the happy march to see Franz Ferdinand’s sold out show. I was on a performance high, and did not know that luck could strike twice.  Lead singer Alex Kapranos is pure, unabashed rock n’ roll.

There is something magnificent when the lights go down, the intro-music begins to play, and that band walks out to wave at the crowd they are about to ignite. Franz Ferdinand might as well have walked on water wit how enlightened the crowd was within their presence. The setlist felt like hit after hit, with non-stop, riotous tracks like, “Don’t You Want To”, ” Lazy Boy”, “Paper Cages”, and, of course “Take Me Out”. The audience jumped and moshed the whole night as if their feet would never feel exhaustion. It was inevitable to be moved, and surprising. for at least me, to see how hyping their music is live. They are 100% a band to experience live, and , of which , you will find their music 30x’s more exhilarating. Their undeniable good show comes from Kapranos flirtatious swag with the crowd. He smiles and addresses the audience as if he were trying to seduce us, which with his perfect pitch and tone, I was falling in love. Seeing how rich his vocals were despite the jumps, dances, and guitar riffs, no multi-task could draw away his focus from striking every note like a winning pin-ball. It was amazing to watch, and relish as someone whom appreciates the art of being an entertainer.

Although, for the most part, Franz Ferdinand sang their hits like a straight rocket, with no breaks or interference, it was the brisk moments of pure, invigorating connection between Kapranos that enthralled the crowd. From a slight wink to a sporadic “Sing It!”command, he had us wrapped around his finger. He is simply a charm, in part, because you feel he likes his music and performing. Usually, in concert, you do not even question whether a band or lead vocalist enjoys performing; you just enjoy their performance. Yet, there was an energy and an undeterred happiness to his performance that helped you to realize why he is the titular front-man. He knows how to make himself, his fellow band-mates, and the audience feel like the moment they are having is one to invest in fully.  For example, as I looked at the giddy faces, I was in awe to see a burly 6′ 4, bald man scream, “Yay!” from joy. That is the power of Franz Ferdinand; they make even the most grown of us feel like kids. For More Information On Franz Ferdinand Click Here.
