Concert Review: Haelos Got Love And Music At MHOW

Positivity is the 8th wonder of the world, and when we see it in a person, or feel it within ourselves, it appears ridiculously joyous. It is as if no one should feel that good about living on earth, but, for Haelos, what other option is there? To be miserable? This vibin group swept over Brooklyn to make MHOW a place of modern love and music and turned groove into a darkly euphoric matter.

There is something 90’s esque about Haelos that, I believe, spoke to the Millennial crowd. In the pre-9/11 world, music was all about getting down and likening your soul to a can of paint destined to color the town red. It was synth-waved groove laced over verses that asked you to lift your soul so your body could get down and boogie. Of course, most of us 90’s kids are now in our teens and twenties; well aware that hope is a harder commodity to find. Yet, perhaps, that is why HAELOS adds the E to their title? They make you feel like a different kind of angel; one that understands Heaven is not a place to stay but a state of being, which is something our generation is trying to achieve.

HÆLOS – Buried in the Sand (Official Video)

“Earth Not Above,” “Oracle,” “End of The World Party,” and “Pray” had Haelos singing to the feeling that there has to be something better than “this,” and if that means you have to better yourself to get it than you will. Still, such a choice of road is not an easy one to drive and the harmonies between Arthur Delaney, Dom Goldsmith, and Lotti Benardout were like tying red and white ribbons around the choices you should make versus the ones you want. Together, the men felt like silky contrasts to Benardout’s beamed voice. The result were songs that felt fluffed in rhythm and blues; as if Parcels and Wet decided to form a dance group paced according to people’s heartbreaks and heart-races.

Haelos – Dust

From “Dust” to “Ark,” Haelos music redefined groove with a contemporary twist; as if it was not about dance as much as contorting your thoughts to their arrangements. They somehow balanced how many of today’s youths feel like they are crashing and soaring all at once like, angels that cannot seem to avoid getting their wings caught in clouds. Such a dynamic felt perfect the club/ MHOW, and a friday night when people are shedding their business minds for their weekend ones. For More Information On Haelos Click Here.
