Concert Review: Lady Lamb Goes Patti Smith At Elsewhere

I was, simultaneously, surprised and unsurprised by how cool Lady Lamb is as a performer/ person. From the minute she began, I thought of Patti Smith and Carly Simon; classic, 70’s rockers that brought vulnerability to verse and edginess to style. For these women, saying they had thoughts behind their feelings was revolutionary for the time, and Lady Lamb aims to continue the revolution.

I have mentioned, from Billie Eilish to Noname, there are so many talented women that making their inner worlds into poetry, of which Lady Lamb does the same. “Billions of Eyes,” “Oh My Violence,” “Little Flaws,” and “Untitled Soul” sang to the person that has realized their sensitivity is their greatest asset. In a world that promotes non-emotionality/ numbness as sophistication, Lady Lamb proudly declares she rather be a “Heretic.” Hence, why she appears so cool; she is a reminder that rebels are not based in style as much as sentiment. You put on your leather jacket, clench your fist in the air,  and yell, “Peace, Love, and Justice!”  because you believe in them.

Lady Lamb – Even in the Tremor (Official Video)

Vocally, Lady Lamb smolders and silvers her voice as if she wanted to thicken her lyrics. If a verse is simply a word on a page or a thought in a mind, Lady Lamb is determined to use her voice as their solidifier. Thus, from “Deep Love” to “Even In Tremor,” she delivered her songs with a weightiness that made her keel over her guitar as if every chord was a brick on her back. She contorted her body and face as rhythms stretched her physically, which heightened the passion of her songs. Yet, in between, she was just a regular girl; laughing and quipping with the crowd as if we had all come together on her tour bus.

I love artists that know how to transform in song and become regular in style. While her tracks made her appear like a youthful revolutionary, telling the arrogant, upper echelons of society to bite it, she used her time, in between, to reveal her personality/ person. It was a smart move the made everyone want to join her Teen Warriors Club. For More Information on Lady Lamb Click Here.
