Concert Review: Sigrid Is Positive Pop At Webster Hall

At Webster Hall, Sigrid approached the stage like a breathe of fresh air, which might explain why they guy next to me did not mind seeing her showwith a broken nose. Cast and all, he tilted his head up and screamed Sigrid’s name as if no broken bone could impede how complete she made his heart feel. The avidness of him and all her fans made me further conclude that Sigrid is the queen of Positive Pop.

Sigrid’s music approaches the everyday instances when you might have to kick ass. Yet, do not presume kicking butt is fighting with those that cross your path, especially physically. Instead, Sigrid defines badassery as both embracing your day and confronting those that try to stop your from doing so. Feeling good should be the goal of every person, and tracks like, “Sucker Punch,” ‘Go To War,” “Don’t Feel Like Crying,” and “Mine Right Now” come off like anthems and oaths to prioritizing happiness. After all, if joy is a choice then you have to make sure NO ONE takes it as your option. Hence, those songs, along with her entire set, felt like every instance you decided, “I don’t want to keep feeling bad anymore.”

Sigrid – Mine Right Now

You ever had that? A time when you felt so bad that, instead of sinking, you said, “I need to have a good time.” Hence, you went out of your way to find it, and Sigrid’s music is the soundtrack to that search. Her concert was sold out and filled with people singing along with glee. She skipped across the stage throwing a kick there  and a punch here as if she also leads Zumba classes on the side. Yet, she does it with such an infectious smile that her vocals notes might as well shine through her teeth. She never stopped smiling, which only brightened how scaled her range. The result was a vocality that felt like an ice cream dispenser; swirling flavors into any mind seeking to sweeten life’s taste. For More Information On Sigrid Click Here.
