Concert Review: SoMo Brings Out The Lust Of Love At Webster Hall

I have brought up a few times that I studied rhetoric throughout college. I say this not to “brag”, but out of awe as to how much our physicality affects, manipulates, and emanates through a crowd. SoMo gave an interstellar performance at Webster Hall that proves why people, like me, study “people”; humans are fascinating in how we work and move or, at least, he was.
SoMo – First

SoMo approached his performance like a sparkling comet crossing and crashing throughout the stage to the avid attention of the crowd. Honestly, no one would have known SoMo was human or flesh and blood, had he not unbuttoned his shirt and left his abs on display. Yes, that did get him a lot of extra cheers from the ladies, but, truthfully, he, felt like an orb of light charming the audience through songs “Mirror”, “Curve”, “Control” , and “Ride” (my favorite song). He he does not simply sing, but PERFORMS his songs, which leaves the audience enthralled by the fact that they are getting both vocal and acting notes. People were 100% invested in every moment he built, even in quieter, more sentimental tracks like “First” or “Just A Man”.While he never loses his danceability or carnal passions when singing, these songs ,specifically, for me, brought out the soulfulness of his voice. He is an artist that has WAY MORE vocal capacity and range than his album shows, which is excellent. It makes his show more exciting and a worthy experience because you are going to meet more of SoMo: not just the same one you heard on the record. Thus, while SoMo’s album The Answers was a great record and providing him hit singles for the tour; the album becomes richer when heard live and splashed with his vast charisma.
SoMo – Play (Lyric Video) ft. Maty Noyes

While SoMo’s singing voice is his appealed talent, his immense magnetism was happily unexpected. He is “that guy” in a party who talks to you as if he knew you all your life but you just met. It could be because he has a flirty style with the crowd, as if he is trying to win their number, or because he is unabashedly an electro- R&B singer all about the lust and sensuality of love. If this virtue is about two souls connecting, then his performance was a reminder that those two souls need to use their body to enforce said connection. There was  NEVER a moment where he lost his energy nor friendly command that this night was to PARTY! So DANCE PEOPLE! For being a crowd filled with so many young women with proud SoMo t-shirts, there were also a lot of couples dancing the night away. The mix gave the night a twinkled feel of love and warmth, and transformed what was a concert into an event. Whether you were loving your partner while listening to SoMo or loving SoMo while watching him radiate on stage, the point is you were having fun and fully connected to the moment, which is no small feat. He made his concert worth its ticket. For More Information On SoMo Click Here.
