Concert Review: Thirdstory Turn Brooklyn Steel Into Their Home of Harmony

Seeing Thirdstory at Brooklyn Steel was AMAZING. I remember when they wee just filling out Baby’s All Right, and now a whole warehouse was cheering their name. After all, they are a NY-bred group, which made their home welcome their triumph as their own.

Like Bishop Briggs, Thirdstory have and are succeeding because they bring a sense of spirituality to nightlife; even covering Hotline Bling from the “Gospel According To Drake”. Not many people have the creativity and charm to turn a Crosby, Stills, and Nash track into a song for Millennial woes, but, as they laughed, they go for the depression of songs. Yet, for however “sad” or “quiet” their songs from their debut, Cold Heart, may play, there is an inherent warmth to their demeanor and sound. Symbolically, their music shows the glory of a rainy day because the water will clean you before the sun brightens you.
Thirdstory – Still In Love

“Still In Love”, “Only Love”, “Goodbye Friend”, and “Over” say it all in title; these are the songs you play when you are missing, wishing for, or falling in love. These guys are unabashedly about a sad, beautiful love song, which made them such an odd, but euphoric choice for a Saturday Night. Their shows are for the blissfully mindful or the person searching to feel a happier thought about a broken heart. This may not seem like a possible feat, but when Elliott Skinner, Richard Saunders, and Ben Lusher sing you feel like you can actually move on and forward from heartache. They scope the choral bastions of tenor, alto, and soprano to build a harmonic army that fights the validity of sadness to gain the rightfulness of joy.
Thirdstory – G Train ft. Pusha T

You may have a valid reason to be sad, but you do also have a right, as a human being, to feel happy. This point made Thirdstory feel relatable as singers and persons. Between tracks they talked about the friends that betrayed them, the lovers that hid them, and the overall people that failed to see the greatest gift someone can give you is their love. Thus, Thirdstory’s concert felt like a night of being grateful that someone gave you their heart, and you actually and kindly kept it. For More Information On Thirdstory Click Here.
