Song Review: Alex Da Kid Shows Love Is “Not Easy”

“Not Easy” is not only the newest track from mega-producer Alex Da Kid, but also the general conclusion we have all made about life and love; it is not easy! In the newest track from Kid, he collaborates with a wide spectrum of distinct and different talent: Elle King, X Ambassadors, and Wiz Khalifa. What makes this song, not just good, but fascinating is to hear how each artist gives their own lyrical spins to the theme of heartache.

One of the hardest things to accept about life, and thus continuously undergo, is its disappointments. Even the magnificence of love can be bound to pain and loss. When asked what inspired this song and his choice collaborations Kid said,
“By definition, my role as a producer is always collaborative. I knew that when I put out my first single as an artist, I’d want to collaborate with an unexpected combination of amazing talent, so Wiz, Elle, and X Ambassadors were perfect. We each brought very different perspectives and life experience to the song and the subject of heartbreak, which is what I think makes the track work so well.”
The irony of vast differences and styles of each artist’s letter to heartbreak is that they share the same, simple conclusion: it sucks!

Forgive my rather brutish language, but it is true: heartbreak sucks, and this song beautifully captures that through Elle’s rocker twanged voice, Wiz’s smooth rap flow, and the X-Ambassadors raw, soulfulness. Each placed their heart into their track to show its pain, and they all did it thanks to Alex Da Kid’s brilliance. After all, he is the producer to one of the most disturbingly, poignant odes to love’s sickness “Love The Way You Lie” by Eminem (feat. Rihanna). For more on Alex Da Kid’s prolific career click Here.
