I love Halsey. In a world where brave can be used very loosely, she shows courage by being very open with her struggles for mental health/ clarity. Thus, I am an avid supporter of the singer/ person who shows her wounds in a world that can love to hurt. Saying you feel bad can leave you open to feeling worse, but Halsey is all about speaking truth and being in the moment. Hence, “Now Or Never” is the perfect, sonic offer for anyone who has fallen in love and wants clarity/ definition in their relationship.

Halsey is a HUGE fan of Romeo and Juliet, and her newest video is a grand homage to the Baz Lurhman film version. Moreover, I love that in this version, Halsey, is the Romeo. (YES KWEEN!). It is she who trying to win over “Juliet”/ Julian, and bravely whisk him away form their warring families.The gender-switch adds a layer of freshness to a story that has been recycled and re-done more than the earth. Moreover, Halsey ’s faith that love conquers all plays well to distinguish the video, and thus the song, as a dance track that makes you dream of starry love. Thus, I am incredibly excited to see the sequel to video, and hear more of Halsey’s sound in her upcoming album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.The heavy bass dropping as she croons “Now or Never” gives sweet urgency to the song; either leave with me now or get left behind.
