Song Reviews: Nicki Minaj Drops Three Tracks In One Night

Nicki Minaj has dropped three tracks in one night for all those who were waiting for her response to Rmey Ma look no further then “No Frauds”. Going along with the usual assertion that she is real and regal, Minaj quickly questions Ma’s attempt at al come-back by dragging her down a few notches.

I do not support women against women and I hope that this blossoming feud quickly ends so that these two flowers can keep on blooming lyrically but we will see. Until then, the exciting part about Nicki’s response, No Frauds, is that it includes a reunion with Drake and Lil Wayne. Of course, the Cash Money family reiterates their usual perspective of anti-fakeness and anti-fools that believe by questioning their talent/power they can gain their own. It’s befitting that these three unite in a song called “No Frauds” because they are three artists, whether you like it or not, that have been at the top of their game but also have been consistently challenged as to whether they deserve to be on top. With a beat that creeps in to both signify and emphasize that anyone who comes for them will end up crawling like their bass-line. Yet, Nicki has dropped two other tracks call “Changed It” and “Regrets In Her Tears”.

“Regrets In Her Tears” and “Changed It” furthers Minaj’s motto as a woman who will never back down, and, despite mistakes, is assured enough in her own skin to own herself. While “Changed It” has a charming kick drum and Lil Wayne’s vocal playfulness like, No Frauds, it is another self-affirming piece that Hip Hop is not the same sinceQueen Nicki began her kingdom, which is true. Yet, “Regret In Her Tears” intrigues me out of the three because it is the most vulnerable. You could hear a little “Roman”, Nicki’s alter ego, in the chorus, but you can also hear Nicki’s desire for a man to see and appreciate what she brings as a boss-woman. Moreover, it has a dark-tropical rhythm in which its synth still wave like a classic Caribbean track but with a lower, slower tone to enrich that this song is one to absorb.
