Album Review: Sheer Mag “Need To Feel You Love” And THEY WILL!

I LOVE THIS ALBUM! I LOVE SHEER MAG! Review over… In serious, Sheer Mag might be the dream baby of ACDC and Alabama Shakes with The Gossip as their godmother. They have combined the styles, aggression, and dreamy naughtiness of these bands to give the world, Need To Feel Your Love.

Need To Feel Your Love might have a double meaning or, at least, a double petition. You want to feel a person love you while also desiring that your heart receives it. Yes, this sappy assessment is far from the sound of Sheer Mag. The bouncing chords might as well bunker and zipline through your ears in classic-rock format. “Expect The Bayonet”, “Suffer Me”, and “Can’t Play It Cool” take you back in time to a 70’s parking lot; where leather jackets and droves of wasted youth laugh in the face of parental control and hopelessness. This vibe of kicking sorrow as a warranted but lame feeling is derived from Tina Halladay having the coolest voice alive. It cuts through rhythms as if she is stabbing instrumentals with a dagger of passion. There are moments when we feel an emotion so much we can YELL and grit our voice as if it were dirt falling from our hands, and THAT is how Halladay sings. She is spewing the rust and rockiness of being so powerful as a person but so un-empowered by stupid relationships, “Rank And File”, and people that want to start problems for no reason, “Meet Me In The Streets”. Sheer Mag lyrically encompass two of biggest problems most of us have in this world; stupid people and stupid choices.

When discussing their work, particularly in terms of Sheer Mags LGBT support, Tina Halladay said, “people have an odd fascination with what others choose to do with their lives. Too often the people speaking against something have some of those feelings harbored deep within them that they don’t know how to deal with. The world is changing and those people are going to have to deal with the fact that you cannot control others.” I marvel on this statement because it reflects Need To Feel Your Love so perfectly. If you cannot control your hate towards me then trying letting out your love instead. Each songs, from “Pure Desire” to “Milk And Honey” is raucously arranged to display that no one can truly control anyone so wasting your life trying to tell others how to live, and have the courage to face live your life to yours to your fullest content. Nobody’s true happiness is dependent on others, which is why it makes no sense to say how someone else loves or lives is hurting your ability to do the same. Leave it to the epically, uncontrollably awesome voice of Tina Hallyday to push this message. For More Information On Sheer Mag And To Buy Need To Feel Your Love On July 14 Click Here Click Here.
