Artist Close-Up/Concert Review : Cloud Cult Is A Philosophical Trip

Walking into a Cloud Cult concert is like walking into a search for self- meaning and inspiration. Their music is based in existentialism, which is why it is an entrancing blend of earthliness and otherworldliness. If you hear their sound and lyrics, you envision yourself on an interstellar journey. On that journey, you try to figure out what is the meaning of everything and how do you fit into the universe?  Does that sound too deep? Well, Cloud Cult is a “deep” band.
Cloud Cult is a band that attracts everyone’s inner philosopher. Their songs explore themes like, virtue, life, and death, and the meaning of personal existence. They are very inspirational, both creatively and spiritually, which can be seen by the artists in the background that created a fresh painting as the band played.  I was left in curious wonderment watching the band’s riveting performance and seeing these painters’ strokes adapt to their every song. When they played their song “Chromatica,” the strokes were delicate and gentile. When they played “Everything You Thought You Had” the strokes were pervasive and targeted. Either way, both painters created distinctly beautiful masterworks that were equally vivid and intricate, which Cloud Cult’s music is. Moreover, it proved my affirmed belief that Cloud Cult is the band to go to confront life’s darkest and lightest issues through the power of music.

The Seeker
Cloud Cult’s concert is for the positive intellectual desiring rhythms and words that will help them confront life and uplift it. Their music is like pulsating brain waves meant to make you think through the art of sound. They are one of the few bands, that to hear and see them play, is like having a film reel of thoughts cross your mind. Their concert attracts fellow artists because its insightful analysis of life motivates listeners to become apart of it. More importantly, their music inspires listeners to make art of it.
    The Seeker

Cloud Cult’s most recent album, The Seeker, came with a similarly titled film and a furthering that this band is for the mindful visionary. Cloud Cult motivates every art form by approaching life as a vast thematic space that is endlessly to be explored and understood. Their concert is an emotional experience. There are moments when you want to leap for joy and cry in wisdom because each song strikes straight for spiritual sentiment. It is no wonder that a Cloud Cult concert motivates the mind, body, and soul because that is what the band gives to their audience. They use every part of their being to make sure that no note, word, or message is left unreceived. This is to be expected from a chamber rock band that formed nearly two decades ago. They are seasoned professionals and philosophers that approach their concerts with a unique, open confidence.

Cloud Cult played on April 8, 2016 at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. For More Information on the band click here. To buy The Seeker click here. Trust me when I say, this album is for the thoughtful listener that wants to hear music that makes them dream better and bigger.
