Concert Review: Carlie Hanson Is Genuine At BK Steel

I begin this review with a story. As Carlie performed, two young women proudly proclaimed, “I love her energy!” Then, Carlie mentioned how she had fallen in love with a young woman, and those two ladies grimaced. Yet, the two guys behind me kissed with pride. In an instant, Carlie had closed off hate and summoned love by being herself, which is such a “Carlie Hanson” thing to do.

After interviewing her, I had no doubt Carlie Hanson would be a good performer. She is bright and big in personality; completely unfiltered. She is alarmingly transparent, which is why you love her. She spends every second on the stage revealing what she feels and thinks: both literally and in song. From “Hazel” to new track, “Where You At?” she sings her songs like diaries that have been left open on purpose. She wants you to see her, and that is what makes her a star.

Carlie Hanson – Toxins [Official Audio]

From Billie Eilish to Phoebe Bridgers, Carlie fits into that high energy, realness that they serve. They simply are young women having fun and letting out their fears and promises for the world to see. There is something inherently charming about that, and it transfers into an high octane show that runs purely on her personality. She runs around, drops “f**ks” in her sentences, and laughs as she presents her pop tracks like a punk rocker.  Frankly, its amazing to see an entire warehouse of people raise their hands and cheer for an 18 year old girl proudly proclaiming she is figuring herself out.

Carlie Hanson – Numb [Official Video]

All Carlie Hanson did on that stage was be herself, and it was beyond enough. I always say, “Tell people who you are, from the beginning, so you can see if they are worth being with you in the end!” “Numb,” “Toxins,” and “Why Did You Lie?”are all sonic, cautionary tales that promote this truth. Every person tries so hard to make themselves appear someone else to others, but Carlie uses her saccharinely husked voice to sing, “Cut the BS! Live your life! And listen to her music!” For More Information On Carlie Hanson Click Here.
