Concert Review: George Ezra Is Our Favorite Buddy At Bowery Ballroom

George Ezra is my buddy. Any person that enters their show with the Austin Powers’ theme blasting is my best friend. That 30 second theme song set up the mood so well, I wonder why most concert do begin the same. People smiled and cheered as George Ezra came to Bowery Ballroom to reveal two things; he is a goofball and has one of the richest voices in the current music industry.

Vocally, Ezra’s voice makes you want to wrap yourself with his songs. I can snug into tracks like, “Leaving It Up To You”, “Barcelona”, and, of course, “Budapest”. There is something “rockabilly” to Ezra’s vocals, and how he reverberates his notes to echo an Elvis sensibility. People loved it because it added emotional luxury to songs like, “All My Love”, “Don’t Matter Now”, and “Pretty Shining People”. The velvet of his voice emphasized that, at the end of the day, nobody knows what they are doing in life. We are all trying to “wing it” at best, and be great people that can feel great things like, love. The humility of that message and music vibe amped up the audiences’ s love for the witty singer.
George Ezra – Budapest (Official Video)

George Ezra has a sweet nobility to him that comes off silly and child-like in playfulness. From his almost, dangerous booking of a random room in Barcelona to his confirmation that 2016 was the oddest year ever in human history, the crowd laughed with Ezra in a way one would laugh with their favorite buddy. While everyone had come to see him perform and lather music with, again, one of the best voices I have ever heard live, in the end, we all walked away wanting to hang out with the guy. He seems like an amiable, easy personality soaking up the yelled “I love you’s” and “Woohoo’s” like one would their favorite ice cream. Thus, I could see George Ezra everyday because his talent becomes more of one to listen when you see his personality is worth a watch, as well.
