Concert Review: H.E.R Sells Out Brooklyn Steel With Love

Honestly, buy your ticket for H.E.R’s tour, NOW! Playing a sold-out crowd, near her own home in Brooklyn. H.E.R. was speechless at the amount of love that floated in the air as if this virtue was our soul’s oxygen. Yet, if it is to be believed you get what you give, as a woman that proudly declares her humility towards Love, it was no surprise that H.E.R gave such a stunning, romantic show.

I said it in my first review of H.E.R. at Bowery Ballroom. this rising, young woman gives a show for those that love Love. Couples were abound, and they were publicly displaying their affection, of which H.E.R.’s music ignites more than a peck; it ignites a pulsing, passionate kiss. Yet, there were plenty of singles singing along to tracks like, “Focus,” “Best Part,” “Losing,” “Every Kind of Way” and “Avenue.” As she scoped through her catalogue like she has been singing to and about love since its very conception, I realized the beauty of H.E.R’s music/ concert: optimism. H.E.R makes relationships feel like, for whatever wrongs they may take, they can go right again.

H.E.R. – Could’ve Been (Official Video) ft. Bryson Tiller

It is as if H.E.R. sees heartbreaks for what they are; temporary bumps on a road you eventually  leave as you drive unto the right path/ right romance. In a music world that, at times, sings more to the devastating end of love, H.E.R refreshes the scene by singing to how wondrous it is when it goes right or when you are dreaming of “the one’s” arrival. You might not think this is unique, but ask yourself; how many love songs do you know in 2018 that do no include heartbreak or sex? Blessed with a voice that unwraps lyrics like gifts, H.E.R.’s voice ribbons with emotions that remind you love is a spiritual connection: first and foremost. Although, this night was unique because Bryson Tiller came out to sing “Could’ve Been,” there was one moment that made it even more special for me.

Daniel Caesar & H.E.R. – Best Part, a Visual

After her gospel rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Make It Rain,” which, literally, made the grown man next to me cry, a fan passed out. For the next 5 minutes, H.E.R on making sure the fan was okay. She had gone from soul-ascending singer/star to genuinely kind human being in a millisecond because, for H.E.R., they are not mutually exclusive. This moment moved me because her career is rising, and not every good human being can say they are or have risen to public praise. Yet, she sold out a WAREHOUSE full of people ready to hear both her songs and genuine wisdom on what is to not be ok, “I’m Not Ok,” but still know you are valuable even with your flaws, “As I Am.” For More Information on H.E.R And to Buy Tickets To Her Brooklyn Steel Show On November 27 Click Here.
