Concert Review: Kitten Is LET LOOSE At Highline Ballroom

The first time I saw Kitten, I was enamored by the physical stamina of lead singer Chloe Chaidez. Yet, at Highline Ballroom, prepping to see her AMAZING show,I thought of Samia, an epic, rising artist, declaring her dreams of being in a relationship with Chloe. Well, Chloe is only amping her art to make others’ visions rise, as well.

If you are a singer inspiring other singers then you are doing VERY WELL in life. When people, especially fellow artists, start fantasizing about what it would be to hang our with your presence and form a friendship or love affair, you have entered FAME territory. Chloe’s talent is so robust and her stage personalty is so powerful, you end up dreaming of bonding with her. At Highline Ballroom, she was on 20, compared to her Rough Trade show, because she was so aware that her crowd was growing. Yes, Blue October were the headliners, but the audience was filled with “kittens,” and the dynamic left her swooning with energy. Knowing there were more people to impress made her do the impossible; give MORE ENERGY!
Kitten – Pink Champagne

It was as if God had replaced Kitten’s blood with pure, cane sugar, and all they could do was RUSH all over the place. As lead, Chloe is a balance between that kid that had 20 cupcakes under 20 seconds and a female goddess. Yes, those are two completely energies, but they, oddly match. On one end, she is childlike and uncontrollable. Tossing her voice and body like a game all over your mind’s playground with jump-roping tracks such as “Abigail,” “I Did It,” and “Pink Champagne.” On the other hand, she is regal with her chaotic adrenaline; allowing her madness to feel refined and rich. Everyone wishes they could sing, move, and VENT like she does on stage; leaving all of herself for the audience to devour.
Kitten – Secrets Live in Studio

I am in absolute awe by Chloe Chaidez’s physicality, and that she can even sing as she contorts her body. I am talking Cirque Du Soleil level moves. She makes her toes touch the top of her head as she belts and roars her notes. Yet, her band CANNOT be ignored. Sonically, Kitten sounds like a bunch of super talented kids from detention decided to form a garage-punk-pop band; they are young, rebellious, and singing to every misunderstanding that left them feeling too “cool for school”. It is intoxicating to watch for those of us that rebel against high society snobbery because we embrace the everyday fashion of living. For More Information On Kitten Click Here.
