Concert Review: Kolars Are The Perfect 4/20 Duo At Rough Trade

Playing on one of the most sacred holidays of NY, 4/20, Kolars were the perfect duo to light up the crowd. As Marys and Janes aligned to have a night-out, the rock n’ roll couple played like a platoon of musicians. At Rough Trade, they showed you get calm so that you can get excited.

No fun ever began without a pre-game; an emotional and physical prep to party. By the time Kolars were up, people were READY for them. Lauren Brown is dynamite; tap dancing on drums and beating them into pulps. She is a force to reckon and looks almost fantastical like, the little drummer girl that grew into a fierce woman. Her playfulness and prowess builds Kolars’ rock like a circus act; with each percussive rhythms flipping like an acrobat. Naturally, Rob Kolars steps in to ring lead.

Rob’s voice has that typical, gravel rock voice that people love in their leads. He presents his notes as if they carry the weight of the earth, which makes tracks like, “Let It Live Free,” “Dizzy,” “Coattails,” and new songs appear like anthems to resilience. He proves that the bigness of a song relies on the odds it presents to its crowd. From “One More Thrill” to “Touch The Lightning,” every track promoted soaring above every challenge, which is a motivation that makes the body move. Everyone wants to feel like a badass hero, and from how the audience danced, the mood was achieved.

The key to a Kolars show is that their music makes your dream of surviving and being a leader, which is rock n’ roll. While rock is always associated with its big, rebellious vibes, no rebellion has ever started without a leader.  In sound and style, Kolars are leaders. For More Information on Kolars Click Here.
