Concert Review: Lauren Sanderson Is A Leader At Rockwood

“I always knew I would be a leader; I just did not known in what.” In one, casual statement, Lauren Sanderson spoke for every young person that has a fire in their soul, and no idea where to put it. Sanderson never expected to do music, and, as much as a year ago, did not expect to be signed to a major label, Epic Records, and doing hits with PnB Rock. Yet, I always say life is a crazy ride, and her Rockwood show was a celebration of its most unexpected turns.

For Lauren Sanderson, coming out as a lesbian, in the middle of Indiana, was the equivalent of saying “I am from another species.” She was always different, and knew she wanted to empower others to accept their own differences as beauty marks. From “Voices In My Head” to “Time”, Sanderson sung to learning how to be kind to herself, which meant letting go of the long- chased “normalcy” we are all fooled into believing exists. Sanderson is not normal, but that only means she is unique in both message and voice.
Lauren Sanderson – Written In The Stars ft. PnB Rock

When I reviewed “Written In The Stars”, I called Sanderson the SIA of rapping, and seeing her live only amped my assessment. She has a flow that feels like she has turned “Chandelier” into spoken word; she is not quite singing, not quite speaking, but she is always musical. Her notes float fluidly into surrounding ears as if we are the speakers, and she is the television; forming reels of images that show human life is “Electric”. While this new song has yet to be released, Sanderson was adamant that it would be a hit, and I believe her.

You may not be psychic, but you are intuitive. Cardi B knew “Bodak Yellow” was her “hit”, and Sanderson feels “Electric” will connect to the masses like a smooth R&B track with trop influences. Moreover, it continues to further Lauren as a warm, chill personality that really wants everyone to get along, especially with themselves. From her insistence we instagram her to her own Insta-photo of the night, she felt so blessed to see her feeling was right; she was meant to lead. Yet, she felt happily surprised to know it was through music. For More Information On Lauren Sanderson Click Here.
