Concert Review: Misty Mtn Rise At Mercury Lounge

Misty Mtn hit the mark at Mercury Lounge; serving a dreamy pop soundscape that spoke to the crowd. From “Drive” to “Seasons,”their melodies blurred, like lights in rain, to balance the hopefulness and grimness of knowing you need to go “somewhere” and having a lifetime to figure out where that is exactly.

Every artist appeals to the emotional space someone is in, which is why you listen to songs according to moods or atmosphere. For Misty Mtn, their mood felt like twilight; oddly bright and beautiful, despite hitting on a darker notes. Yet, that is why we love pop; in any form it sugars our bitter. Still, their lyrics strike for the pangs of being young and lost like, a glistening star trying to go through the night-sky to find the day; where she knows the biggest star and pure light awaits. All this imagery is followed by flowing guitar hooks, fuzzed keys, and the impressively easy dynamic of Morissa Trunzo and Lucas Segall.

Misty Mtn can’t hide their love for their songs or their enjoyment of the stage. They were all smiles while playing songs such as, “Float On” and “Greener.” The result is a subtle charming of the audience. After all, who has not seen someone laughing or smiling and asked, “Why?” In their show, you can see why in how Lucas smiles when Morissa hits a bubbles and pops a high note like gum or when she  closes her eyes and holds herself as if a synth-wave can gust over her like wind. Overall, their style and presence proved their is so much more to come from them; so get excited and click here for More Information On Misty Mtn.
