Song Review: Alan Walker’s “Alone” Will Make You Dance In Solidarity

Call me sentimental, but I really think “Alone” is a beautiful song. The 19 year old, Norwegian DJ, Alan Walker, has skyrocketed to international fame by joining Rihanna in the European leg of  her Anti-Tour and creating one of the biggest hit singles of 2015, Faded. To think, most of us at 19 are trying to find our History class, while this kid is making history! Yet, while creating music for this generation, Walker also wanted to create a message.

“To me, “Alone” is a song about togetherness; a song that praises the feeling and comfort of solidarity. When I started doing music it was never about being someone, but about creating something for others to enjoy with me. The unity I’ve experienced through making music and sharing it with people is incredible,” says Walker. The notion courses through the Nerve style video, where people from all walks of life untie through the internet but connect through nature. A powerful image that rings true for humanity; technology helps us communicate, but it is our human spirits and natures that help us truly connect. Thus, Alone’s video is one that elevates the greatness of this song.
Alone

Noonie Bao sings throughout the track with a warm, thoughtful voice that encourages the ultimate hook: “I know I’m not alone”. I’m not alone in that I get lonely. I’m not alone in that I wonder if the world or life with get better. And I know I’m not alone in wanting to feel a deeper sense of connection with others and my surroundings. An impactful idea that is sent through the bouncing electronica of Alan Walker. His Caribbean flared synths make you want to dance at the club but dance for its cause: solidarity. For those that say 19 year olds have nothing valuable to say,  well you are alone because this song is is worth so much. For More Information On Alan Walker Click Here
