Artist Close-UP: LÉON Is Coming “For You”

LÉON is being named the artist to watch in 2017, and with good reason. She is capturing the moodiness of isolation. From the dancing electro of “Sleep Deprived” to the the nostalgic ballad of “For You”, LÉON reminds that entering the “mainstream” does not mean losing the music that moves.
LÉON – Liar

Liar

“Mainstream” music has a wide net, but can have a “bad rep”. Sometimes, when people think “mainstream”, they sense a loss of thoughtfulness. Yet, as my recent reviews of Khalid, Frances, and Sigrid have shown; there are a rising batch of Millennials from all over the world that show being seen more does not mean being felt less. For a generation that longs to be heard and felt more than it seems, LÉON shows that neither a digitized beat or a piano chord can deny a pretty voice in pain. Whether she is calling out a “Liar” or asking someone to “Think About You”, she is representing the the worries and whims of youth to mutually feel connected to others and their inner self. The result is a beautiful new EP called “For You”, that shows this Stockholm native understands the universal plight to “feel”. Whether it is is to feel in love or feel loved, LÉON, which means “lion” in multiple languages, is proof that a roar/ voice can be sweet and nuanced in sound but always powerful in message.
