Concert Review: Billie Eilish Is Sweet Hypnosis At Baby’s All Right
Popshop NYC Presents is becoming a STAPLE in NYC for giving great, even free shows fro the industry’s top indie and rising artists. This week is it was Billie Eilish’s turn to do ANOTHER sold-out show, and give her beloved Brooklyn delicious love songs and sweet conversation at Baby’s All Right. Similar to Dagny and Astrid S, there are some magnificent pop stars on the rise that are not just bringing good music but good personalities. Yes, you have to have talent to be seen, but a good heart is always worth listening.
Billie Eilish – watch
It is easy to bombard Billie with compliments of sweet and noble. Her vocals literally sound like pillows for you to rest your gentle head upon, which is why tracks like “Party Favor” and “Bellyache” were surprisingly heartbreaking. It made sense that Popshop NYC chose Billie Eilish amongst its repertoire as she makes electro-dreams on what it is to have your heart taken but never returned. Hence, her sweetness as a person is fortified by the pleasant but melancholic twists of her music. It is as if songs like “Hostage”, “Ocean Eyes”, and “I’m In Love Without You” were written with candy and lemons; for however sweet they were to your ears, the more you listened, the more you heard their sourer notes. Thus, her songs“idon’twannabeyouanymore” and “watch” felt like romantic confrontations on what you need from yourself and your lover in a relationship. Of course, such themes filled the youthful Brooklyn room because who knows heartbreak more than a twenty-something woman (#datinglife), or in Billie’s case a 15 year old girl. YUP! Billie is fifteen, and living a more promising life than most of us “old-timers” (lol!) Discuss! Moreover, she is presenting her tracks like they are crackling dynamite to either simmer or sparkle your soul with rhythm and acknowledged, love woes.

Billie made everyone sway to her trance-inducing vocals, and her own dancing, bounce to her tracks. She is a concert to go to when you want to enter a kind hypnosis, and have your mind drift amongst ukuleles and the best Drake cover of Hotline Bling. Yes, both those things were featured! Yet, most importantly and personally, I realized Billie is amongst the most exciting acts on the rise because she seems to have a warm, welcoming nature, to which who you are can measure who you will be in the music industry.
