Song of The Week: Haux Unleashes “Caves” (Samuraii Remix)

Nothing like a good remix to bring up what was already great about a song! Haux made a riveting debut this year with is EP All We’ve Known.  The album is dream-folk music electrified by synth wave sonics, which makes you feel as if you have fallen asleep in a pixelated landscape. Such a sentiment makes sense as Haux wrote the album in his small flat in London with an aim to bring out the contrasting natures of adrenaline and calm the city has to offer. Thus, it is no wonder that he attracted one of the hottest producers/ DJ’s, Samuraii, to remix is hit Caves.

Caves is a beautiful song by nature, and goes with the overarching theme of ” spiritual clash” that Haux aims to decipher. The singer-songwriter has proclaimed his fascination with “the guts” or gusto of human being. What makes certain people skyrocket with determination for their dreams and others cower at the very thought of them? As he explains, I’ve always wondered where gut comes from. The gut that tells you when to run, when to hide, or when to just stand still. After writing this song I realized that most of the time you’ll never know, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trust it.”  Well said and well-played as the Samuraii version adds a boost of vivid dreaminess to the original version.

While Caves, originally, is a more pensive track, Samuraii adds a layer of quickness to its thoughtfulness through upbeat synths and pouncing drumbeats. The result is a remix that feels like a favorite brother coming to visit with gifts to a song that was already thriving on its own. For More Information On Haux Click Here.
