Captain Cuts, the Los Angeles based, multi-platinum songwriting, production, and remix team are doing their first gig EVER in NYC, and it is FREE! Yes, that is right, is you RSVP HERE. You can get a free ticket to one of the best shows happening in December 9. NYC always has a lot of great concerts, but Captain Cuts is more than a show; they are a great time. Their mixtape The Life of Emo, a humorous pun on Kanye’s The Life Of Pablo, is one of the best mix-tapes of the year, and has earned them praise  Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, Billboard, and Alternative Press.

The Life of Emo can be downloaded for free Here, and you can see for yourself why the praise was garnered. While the life-long friends have several credits working behind the scenes for artists like Jennifer Lopez, Tegan and Sara, Tove Lo, Ellie Goulding, and Britney Spears, as per usual, and artist always wishes to have their own moment in the spotlight. I have reviewed their debut single, “Love Like We Used To (feat Nateur)” and marveled at it fun electro-pop rhythms and choice theme of nostalgia. Such a theme is present in their music by continuously mashing the songs of classic hits by artists like Sum 41, Coldplay, and My Chemical Romance with the hottest jams in current radio-play like The Weeknd’s “False Alarm” and The Chainsmokers’ “Roses”. The blend is exciting because you hear hits that you have not heard in awhile with the newest ones that are frequently booming from your speakers. It is as if you are being reintroduced to your favorites songs, old and new. This effect is something many DJ’s will try to attain but not as distinctly and artfully as Captain Cuts.

Love Like We Used To ft. Natter

There was a time when Emo Rock defined the radio. Blink 182, Paramore, and Say Anything were cultural icons/ definers of people’s thoughts, feelings, and fashions. By mixing their sounds with current pop hits from Drake, Selena Gomez, and Fetty Wap a fascination is brewed with listeners. You are witnessing how culture changes in sound. Would Drake have been the same icon he is now circa the late 90’s, when  Blink 182’s “All The Small Things” felt like the biggest song to ever hit earth?  Who knows?! Yet, time changes and so does the music that defines us and our daily moments in life. Captain Cuts realize that, which is why they have taken to not only make the songs that highlight our day like “Shut Up And Dance”, but they are also mixing the ones that have defined our life. So check them out Captain Cuts on December 9 At Baby’s All Right. Click Here To Learn More About Captain Cuts.
